I had been a harpist and music teacher living on the island of Kauai for 7 years, and then my lung collapsed as of May 2, 2007. I had to be wisked off the island, taken away in oxygen and sent to Stanford Medical in Palo Alto, Calif. After 3 gruelling weeks of draining my lung, a chest tube inserted, and biopsys, ct scans, etc. they came up with cancer in the lining of my lung and the lining of my abdomen. treatment will begin as soon as they know what and where it came from.

today was Lei Day here -- such a neat tradition ! my former officemate was a judge for the lei-making contest down at Kapiolani Park for decades. gorgeous workmanship & creativity....
since yesterday afternoon, local forecasters have been threatening a major thunderstorm w/ flash floods to reach your Kauai & my Oahu ca. midnight tonite. so much advance warning -- likely nothing will come of it, other than washing the vog from the sky.

Hi Joan, wish I could be over in the islands...my heart is always there.
it's a peaceful Sunday morning, nice & subdued & drippy from that storm system, but no T-storms as yet. from NOAA radar, looks like Kauai is getting same -- plenny non-severe showers. has been so dry; this will make the plants happy. I did a major pruning on our plumerias this winter; they've been looking a bit bonsai-ish, but this rain will help. 2 of the 3 trees are already flowering -- lovely blossoms !
