HOSPICE

Dear Friends and Family of Carmen,

The ever changing world of cancer has come to another chapter. My mom is currently at Domincan Hospital, but will be moving Monday, June 28th to assisted living where she can be close to my brother. She will have hospice and a full time caregiver. The cancer has advanced once again and now the focus is on comfort and not treatment. My brother, his wife and myself will all stay with her through this very difficult time. My mother loves to receive cards and her new address is Micro Star Care Home, 1109 E. Homestead, Sunnyvale, CA 94087. Your continued support to her at this time has been appreciated beyond words.

Sincerely, Kelly Arbaut

Thank you so much, Carmen, for giving me some beginning piano music to learn, especially those magic cards! I am dedicating my learning and playing (eventually it will sound nice), to you because you are my inspiration for music!

Love you, and hope you like your new home and get lots of loving care.

Carmen, you have brought so many people so much enjoyment in your life with your music, your steadfast quality of being, and your humor...we are all praying for your comfort and as much grace as possible in whatever will be for you. You've been through so much, I cannot blame you if you're tired and want to move on, but only God knows what is in the stars for you, I've been very happy to know you, and feel blessed because of our friendship.
Love, Patti

The place where I am staying is very spiritual. Filipinos run it and hospice is really organized. I feel I'm getting very special attention because I'm not in the hospital. There are only 4 people at this little cottage. It's very peaceful...a great place to spend your last days. Thanks for the continual love!

Quincy and I wrote a song called: "The End of the Road". it's kind of a country western melody and the words are funny and sad. The music is what's still keeping me going, and keeping things light in the middle of such a heavy event.

Hi Carmen,
Barbara Tofte shared at church last Sunday that the "C" has returned. I wanted you to know how much you have touched my life through your amazingly "positive" and "resilient" spirit. I am happy to visit your Blog site and see that you've been living your life to the fullest and spending time with the people you love. We are having a fun summer. We've been down to Hanalei and Kalihiwai alot to boogie board in the small summer waves. Your beautiful harp will always ring in my home. I think of you often. You are in our prayers each day!
With Love & Aloha,
Kim, Bob, Jared & Trevor Schaefer :-)

Just had a fabulous lavendar massage from a newphew of Depak Chopra. The place I'm staying at is magical. There are a lot of east Indians here, doctors and nurses, and they are very spiritual and calming to be around.

Carmen, I know that you will be truly present during this transition. It will be a blessed time of freedom and warmth and love. You can relax and let others care for you. You have earned it and have given to the world in your shortened life more than most people give in long lives! Your music will fill the hearts and souls for generations to come and your precious grandchildren will have it as a true treasure from their grandmom, you!!! oxoxoxoxoxoxoLove, Lynn and Leslie Graves

Good morning (barely morning, that is), Carmen,
Been thinking about you, as usual, with love and prayers for another peaceful day for you. Thought you'd like to know my massage friend is going to give your "Healing Harp" CD to her husband who really needs some inner child healing, she says. She is so excited for him to have it. Also, Carol listened to your Y2K cd yesterday during her 2 hour massage. Your music lives on and on and on...
Lots of love to you, Robin

Had my first panic attack last night. My bowels are completely backed up with no where to go but up. It seemed like my intestines were pushed all the way up to my throat and I was going to stop swallowing (last stage signs). I had so much fear about it because I heard it's a brutal way to go, as you will start starving to death, so I panicked. Thank God they have hospice nurses who can get to you immediately in any crisis and they came right in, gave me Lorazapam which calms the mind and helps nausea, then they gave me a laxative, and then put me on oxygen and I was able to fall asleep. This morning I am better, but the laxative isnt working yet, and I'm about one and a half weeks of no elimination. Say prayers, thank you.
